Below are things that I am
thinking about or need help doing. If you can
offer me any suggestions on the projects, or know some
one knowledgeable, please feel free to email me!
(Sometimes I might have things up here just to keep
some of the general ideas at hand)
Microsoft Excel
I am wondering how to set up the top row in a
spreadsheet so that it will appear on the top of each
printed page
T-Shirts
It seems like cotton t-shirts feel different
sometimes when they age. It's almost as if they
have a sticky kind of feel against the skin. Would
any one have a better description of this phenomena,
know what it is, or how a t-shirt can be reverted back
to its original feel?
Some Answers Given or Found:
iTunes Question
Running iTunes 12. One of the podcasts I
subscribe to sends off all their shows (about six) at
one time, once a week. When I update iTunes one
show will download and the rest appear with an 'on the
cloud' symbol. I wind up having to manually
download each if them. How do I get iTunes to
automatically download all of these new shows?
Any help or suggestions are much appreciated. My
Current Podcast settings:
Refresh: Manually
Limit Episodes: Off
Down Load Episodes: On
Delete Played Episodes: Off
I searched through several online forums trying to
find how to fix my iTunes issue (see my last blog post
for details). Some described my issue but none
of their solutions were able to work for me. I
played around with my personal iTunes setting and
found a solution:
I found that each individual podcast can have
different settings from the others. Some how,
that podcast's settings were different from the others
so I needed to change it.
I highlighted the podcast's top line on the list, the
line that shows the podcast name which is above the
listing of any individual shows.
After highlighting, I clicked the "settings" button on
the lower right of my screen.
Saw the "Limit Episodes" option was set to "2 most
recent". Changed "Limit Episodes" to "Off"
Everything seems to work fine now.
LED Lighting
I was wondering about how well LED lighting
will function in a room protected from rain, but that
could have summer temps in the nineties (F), and
winter temps below freezing. I received an answer
saying that they should operate just fine in that
range. My plan is to use up the old bulbs I have
on hand and then to try an LED bulb.
Family Tree Software
Is there a family tree software that can view easy
to see charts and also have views for lots of detailed
information. Lastly also hoping that the data
could be exported/imported/saved in a microsoft
product or text format...Right now going to try a
program called "Gramps"
Candle Question
I'm wonder approximately how much heat energy is
given off by a votive candle (such as one made by
Yankee Candle Company)? Well, wikipedia had an answer
under (you guessed it) candles. They claim that
a candle gives off about 80 watts of heat, and about
13 lumens of light.
Ice Cream Scoop
My ice cream scoops would become easily pitted.
I've read on the internet that if you rinse them
off immediately after use, this keeps the lactic acid
in the ice cream from pitting the scoop. I've
bought a new scoop and tried this. So far, so good.
Apple Trees
Had a lot of apples this year, but they all looked
buggy. The answer is on the bottom of the plant page.
Quarters
Does anyone know anything about the origin of the
word quarters when used as in Captain's quarters?..It
meant a place "to put up soldiers", at least in the
16th Century. Info from:
http://www.etymonline.com/
Laptop Computer
I am looking for a laptop computer. The
catch? I want to pay $100 or less. I need
it to be operational. I've tried Craig's
List and Ebay, but that hasn't been much of a help
yet.....found one at a pawn shop. Of course
shortly after the keys breakdown. I plug in a
USB keyboard to run it now. Been using it to
experiment with. Got the wifi to work on it with
windows xp. Since then replaced the operating
system with Linux Mint
Composting
Does anyone know anything about composting?
Some good info is at:
http://www.motherearthnews.com/Organic-Gardening/2006-10-01/Compost-Made-Easy.aspx
Labels
I'm looking a label. Pre-made is fine, but
typically I seem them made nowadays with those
personal label makers. I'm looking for one with
a clear background that says "SUGAR" in dark bold
print. Any one have one or able to make one and send
it to me?
-Someone suggested to me that clear labels can be
purchased that work on a standard home
computer..great!
-I forgot all about those plastic peel apart adhesive
labels where you stamp the letters into the colored
label
-Someone was kind enough to mail me two labels..YAY!..Thank
You
Newspaper Delivery Plastic Bags
You might know what I'm talking about. I get
my newspaper delivered in a bright orange plastic bag.
When flat it measures about 18 by 6 inches in
sizes. Is there SOME kind of use I can get out
of it, rather than throw it away?
-A friend suggested that people who walk their
dogs can use this to carry the 'poop'
Vinyl Repair
I have a weight bench and two kitchen chairs with
torn vinyl. What is the best way to make a good
repair. The tears are fairly large and I'm
presuming I will have to use material that is
different from the original. I'm trying
remnants from a vinyl window shade. I don't
expect it to be long lasting, but so far, so good.
