Thoughts on saving time money, and resources.

Newspaper
I open my mail and toss the window envelopes into a dedicated trash can.  I also throw paper with scribbled notes as long as there is no sensitive information on them into the same place.  When it's time to empty this bucket,  I put it in with my newspapers to be recycled.  I figure this will save the landfills a tiny bit.

Plastic Bags

Many food stores pack your items in plastic bags.  If you save them, you could bring them back to the store on your next trip, and use them over again.  Think of all the plastic that could be saved from going into landfills this way.  The problem that I've had, though is the bags are poorly made, and do tend to develop tears easily.  So what I do is keep the bags aside after tears develop.  The supermarket that I go to accepts these torn bags for recycling in their bottle return center.  An alternative method that has a lot of popularity is bringing your own shopping bag (usually a fairly large bag with handles made of canvas).

How about using them as trash can liners for those small trash cans instead of buying liners?

Car Travel
When doing errands, rather than doing them each individually, plan to do several at once.  Plan your stops in advance and order them to shorten running around.  This will save you both fuel and time.

Water Heater
Turning the temperature gauge down slightly on your water heater can save energy
