Find Me
My motivation for starting this page was from some great stories heard at the New England Pirate Museum located in Salem, Massachusetts. Below is some information relating to pirates:

Jack Rackman -  John Rackham, was often know as Calico Jack, a regerence to the clothing that he often wore.

Edward Teach "Blackbeard"
-  His base of operations was Ocracoke Inlet in North Carolina. On Oct 21, 2009 drivers raised a 4.5 foot, 160 pound, four (originally now one and a half) pronged grapnel near Beaufort, North Carolina, that they believe to be from Blackbeard's flagship, the Queen Anne's Revenge.  He originally captured it in 1717.  It was originally a French slave ship known as La Concorde, with 3 masts and a crew of 150 to 200.   It is said that Blackbeard's beard was jet black and covered much of his face.

Stede Bonnet - Was nicknamed "the gentleman pirate" by some, as he was moderately wealthy before turning to the life of a pirate

Thomas Veal - Thomas Veal is said to have made a hiding place at Dungeon Rock,  in the Lynn Woods Reservation.  The rock there does resemble a human skull.  It is said that in 1658 an earthquake occurred, burying him there with his treasure.

Walter Kennedy - c1695-1721.  An Irish Pirate.  He served in the Royal Navy where he heard pirate tales.  He dreamed of becoming a pirate and later did so.

Other Notable Pirate References:

Talk Like a Pirate Day - Is an original concept created by John Baur and Mark Summers.  It is every September 19th
